I've been making a lot of progress lately. I've tried for years to learn PHP and MySQL and although I haven't stuck to this every single day, I've already learned more than I ever did before. The reason, I think anyway, is because I'm taking my time and being patient with it. In the past, I put quantity ahead of quality. I was always rushing through books as quickly as possible so that I could start the next book. All that accomplished was years of frustration. I'm no better off today than when I first started. This time around I am going to take my time and really try to learn what I need to. It may take me several months, but that's a lot shorter than what it's taking me so far.
As an added bonus, I don't feel burned out at all. Instead of spending all my free time cramming information into my head, I choose a good time when I feel like I have the focus and there are little to no distractions. So far, it has really made a difference.
