Intensive Practicum

I am ever soOOooOOo slowly getting back into the swing of things, now that all the fun wedding planning is over. To really get me jumpstarted, I enrolled in an intensive practicum to help me obtain my supervision hours faster.

It blows to realize how much I've forgotten: concepts, terminology, etc.  Hopefully, from now until June, I'll get serious hands-on experience completing Functional Behavioral Assessments...this time, not on my husband. :)

Reception RSVP

When Husband-2-B and I plan, I think we're pretty efficient and successful. A few months ago, I contacted a few hotels and nearby locations for reception estimates. It got a little bit complicated since H2B wanted it at a hotel so that guests could stay at the same hotel. Thankfully, H2B changed his mind and I re-contacted the nearby Trump National Golf Course. I set-up our appointment all through e-mail (my kind of communication!) yesterday, and we checked it out today at 11:30. A little after 12 P.M., we were in the office, signing the contract and putting down a deposit.

When we left, H2B and I commented about how much of our planning has been so "easy" and stress-free so far. We've been really blessed to walk in somewhere and know right away whether this place (or thing) is "It." When we checked out the Chapel, we knew right away. When I saw my wedding gown in the magazine and tried it on, I knew right away. When we picked out my bridal ring set, I had a hard time envisioning it...until the diamond was set and H2B put the engagement ring on my finger. Perfection.

I also appreciate the long drive to the Chapel/reception site because it allows H2B and I to discuss and plan some more. So far, we are thinking of brown and orange shades for our colors (e.g., peach, bronze).

Yesterday, I also went to a medical spa and booked a facial for next week...and a Bare Escentuals makeover! I just started reading tips and experimenting with cosmetics since I'll be dolling up my own face on the big day.

Lastly, my wedding florist friend got back to me today and said, swing on by any time!

Phew, I was afraid I wouldn't get any planning done during my Winter Break. Yahoo!

Progress Towards Progress

We still do not have remarkable progress to account for, but we are making progress towards marking one of those little green dots.

Tomorrow, I will contact the Chapel to set up a Planning Conference in January, where we will decide on wedding music, obtain information on the marriage license application, etc. I'm hoping that we can visit the potential reception site on the same day as the Planning Conference...but depending on how long both take, we may need to break it up into a 2-day gig. I've contacted the potential reception site and the coordinator says the private dining room is still open on April 5 so I'm hoping this place will be it. We also need to set a date to visit (which I hope to do tomorrow as well). I'm already envisioning the chocolate fountain...I just hope that if we get that, H2B doesn't nix the wedding cake idea!

BCBA Certificate

Yesterday, I received my BCBA Certificate (of course completion) in the mail! It even came in an official diploma/document holder. :)

Completing the coursework had it's moments of challenges, but all in all, I think what lays ahead (i.e., the steps laid out in achieving this goal) will be the bigger challenge. When the new year begins, I plan to get back on track on obtaining clinical and supervision hours.

Big Step

Hm, considering I've created this count and listed the remaining wedding planning steps that Husband-2-B and I still need to accomplish, I feel like I've already achieved something!

It's been difficult planning since we've both been so busy with work, but come Winter Break, we'll get back into the groove and hit the floor running in January.

I'm already making progress on "choosing flowers" -- I just e-mailed an old friend who I recently got in touch with. She and a business partner have this awesome floral design business out in Pasadena! Sweet. :)
